🎨 New UI - Not the First Rework, Definitely Not the Last
🎨 New UI - Not the First Rework, Definitely Not the Last
Here we are again: new week, new update, new UI, new pants, new summer, new... everything.
New UI
We finally gathered the courage to sit down, stare at Photoshop, and attempt to come up with something a bit more modern.
It's not final (nothing ever is), but it's definitely better than before. And now we can stuff so much stuff into a 1920x1080 screen (double stuffing)!
New Rank System and a New Cortisol Source
As you've probably noticed in the videos, we've added a Rank system you know, that thing that plagues modern gaming? Yeah, we added it.
But don't panic: it's completely optional in PL4no-B. In fact, we might even move it elsewhere in the future.
Fun fact: after adding this Rank system, I played a few matches... and now I'm stressed out by my own game. So yep, I'm tuning it down and working on a more adaptive UI/UX - something like Grand Chase used to do, where PvP wasn't hidden, but also wasn't shoved in your face.
New Loading Screen
Before, we had a super basic loading screen. Now? We finally have a PROPER loading screen - one that actually loads, and doesn't just show fake progress bars.
This gives us more opportunities to:
- Show useful hints
- Explain what the player is about to experience
- And, of course, hide nasty backend stuff happening behind the scenes
New Snappy Camera
Thanks to PÉPO (a highly competitive Counter-Strike player), we've added a new camera type the "snappy."
He complained that the camera was too smooth and that something more responsive would be better, especially for transfer-spraying from one enemy to another.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's fine, only about 0.5% of players will even notice this. But as an avid CS player myself, I'm now also a fan of the new snappy camera!
New Syncing Algorithm!
This one's been in for about two weeks, but now it's finally smoothed out, the rough edges aren't so rough anymore.
This video shows four clients connected. It might not look like much to you, but trust me, it means a LOT to me.
We were recently battling the infamous "double cherry" bug, which is now fixed thanks to this new algorithm 🍒
Personal Thoughts
Huge thanks to all the new testers! We're moving faster than ever. Seriously new testers bring new insights and point out new things you had no idea even existed.
Okay, I'll stop with the new
The game itself is still the same at heart, but we've improved the presentation, like a tasty dish
You can follow general updates on Steam, but I'll always post full updates here, with more depth and cool videos. (Yes, I know I could convert these WebMs into GIFs for Steam, but... have you seen the Steam post editor? It's not exactly a good to work with, and they don't even provide an API for it)
And heads-up: no update next week, because I'll be walking the Camino de Santiago!
Cheers,
olivato
